Part of the current on-going conflict that plagues our nation is because BOTH sides feel quite righteous in their position, and sadly this dug-in righteousness has created the stalemate of us vs them. In the bigger picture, the ones that leaders ought to be able to see, is that there is a unity that is higher than temporary separation or disunity. We are all a part of something bigger~ whether it is a family, company, nation or universe!
It comes down to this: we can focus on the differences or we can enhance our similarities! If something is happening, it IS. If we fight it, create blame, shame and guilt around it, we are missing the lesson that comes with the experience, no matter how much we resist it.
When a response or reaction comes from separation, competition, limitation or fear, we are feeding the fuel of righteousness and resisting our lessons. The only way through it, to graduate from the lesson, if you will, is to choose community, unity and love as responses and motivations. What prevents us from that???
“Community is not an ideal; it is people. It is you and I. In a community, we are called to love people just as they are with their wounds and their gifts, not as we want them to be.” – Jean Vanier
“The power of community to create health is far greater than any physician, clinic, or hospital.” – Mark Hyman
“The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” – Coretta Scott King
“Some people think they are in the community, but they are only in proximity. True community requires commitment and openness. It is a willingness to extend yourself to encounter and know the other.” – David Spangler
